Ok, listen up financial services. There’s a new social media kid in town and their name is Ello. I don’t expect most of the financial services community to know what this is (or frankly, to even care) but I feel it’s necessary to give you some thoughts on this as it pertains what we do and if we should be considering this for our target audience.
Ello is a networking platform (so yes, think Facebook) where you can connect with friends, but without ads and without people sharing your private information (very opposite of Facebook). It’s by invite-only and was built with the simplicity of collaboration in mind.
Sounds great, but I don’t think it’s anything worth worrying about…right now. I see a lot of people I respect in social media playing with it and trying it out, but adoption doesn’t seem real hardy…at least for now.
If things change, I will be the first one to pivot and shout from the rooftops, “Let’s do it!“, but for now just keep on keeping on.
Have a bigger, better and more BIONIC day!
